Service Care Solutions are partnering with a reputable law firm in Blackburn, seeking an experienced Costs Draftsman to manage a varied caseload in a supportive legal environment.

The role is office-based with hybrid options depending on firm requirements, offering a salary of £35,000–£42,000 (DOE and interview performance) and benefits such as a pension, medical care and holiday pay.

Qualifications

• Proven experience working in a Costs Draftsman role.
• Strong working knowledge of CPR and costs-related procedures.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in drafting.
• Effective communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to manage workload independently and prioritise tasks.

Responsibilities

• Drafting comprehensive Bills of Costs across a range of matters, including both fast-track and multi-track cases
• Preparing Points of Dispute and Replies in line with procedural requirements
• Assisting with the preparation of costs budgets (Precedent H) when required
• Attending detailed assessment hearings where necessary
• Providing guidance and strategic advice to fee earners on costs recovery
• Ensuring all work complies with the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) and relevant costs legislation
• Managing your own caseload efficiently, ensuring deadlines are consistently met

Key Responsibilities as a Costs Draftsman:
