Turner & Townsend is a global professional services firm delivering cost management across real estate, infrastructure and related sectors. This role focuses on managing quantity surveying duties, cost consultancy, NEС4 two‑stage procurement, and maintaining client relationships on large, complex projects.

Ideal candidates hold a Quantity Surveying degree, RICS membership (or working towards), and have strong numeracy, negotiation, and communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Degree or Masters in Quantity Surveying or equivalent.
  • Demonstrate consultancy experience and be a member of RICS or working towards it.
  • Experience on high value and complex projects in a consultancy.
  • Defence, workplace, retail or mixed-use sector experience desirable.
  • First class communicator with strong client relationships.
  • Commercially aware with negotiation and organisational skills.
  • High standard of numeracy.
  • Client-facing and enthusiastic about the industry.
  • Ability to work independently and to tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to prioritise delivery to deadlines.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and CostX.
  • SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role.

Responsibilities

  • Manage aspects of quantity surveying and cost consultancy including pre and post contract duties.
  • Manage the tender process, review tenders and advise on procurement routes.
  • Role will be two stage procurement using NEC4.
  • Attend meetings, prepare financial reports and monitor project status.
  • Carry out cost checks and valuations on larger projects with timely delivery.
  • Apply value engineering and keep projects on budget from design to completion.
  • Conduct post contract duties including variations and final accounts.
  • Build trusted client relationships with highest professional standards.
  • Interface with clients and other consultants throughout project stages.
  • Support junior team members to deliver cost management services.

Job Description
Main Responsibilities
  • Manage aspects of quantity surveying and cost consultancy including pre and post contract duties
  • Manage the tender process, review and analyse tender returns and prepare recommendations to the client as well as advice on procurement routes
  • Role will be two stage procurement using NEC4
  • Attend meetings, prepare financial reports and monitor the status of projects
  • Taking personal responsibility for making cost checks and carrying out valuations on larger projects and in all cases ensuring that timely and accurate cost checking and valuation takes place
  • Knowledge and understanding of value engineering
  • Ensure the project remains on budget from design to completion phase
  • Full post contract duties including establishing the effect of variations and evaluating and negotiating final account settlements
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with clients, maintaining the highest standards of professional competence at all times
  • Interfacing with the client and other consultants, at all project stages
  • Support junior team members to deliver our cost management service efficiently and effectively
Qualifications
Required skills and qualifications
  • Degree or Masters in Quantity Surveying or equivalent
  • You must be able to demonstrate consultancy experience and have professional membership of the RICS (or working towards this)
  • Experience of high value and complex projects gained in a consultancy environment
  • Defence, workplace, retail, commercial or mixed-use sector experience desirable
  • First class communicator, capable of establishing and maintaining strong client relationships
  • Commercially aware with excellent negotiation and organisational skills
  • High standard of numeracy
  • Client-facing and enthusiastic about the industry
  • Ability to work independently and to tight deadlines
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to effectively prioritise delivery to set deadlines
  • Knowledge and experienced in use of Microsoft Office packages, and CostX
  • Sox control responsibilities may be part of this role, which are to be adhered to when applicable

This offer is contingent upon your successful completion of a security clearance process. Your employment with Turner & Townsend will be conditional upon obtaining and maintaining the required security clearance for the duration of your employment. This will include the Baseline Personal Security Standard (BPSS) and SC Clearance Vetting.
