Job summary

Turner & Townsend alinea is seeking Cost Managers to join our dynamic, award-winning Cost Management team in our London office, working within the Real Estate team. This role offers long-term frameworks with national and regional organisations across the Data Centre sector.

We provide opportunities to lead cost management activities, prepare cost plans, manage post-contract variations, and contribute to value engineering, with support for professional development and flexible leave options.

Qualifications

• Good technical grounding in cost management and contractor background.
• Experience as Commission Manager on small to medium projects, or related experience enabling step up.
• Knowledge of main procurement methods for small to medium buildings.
• Knowledge and understanding of value engineering.
• Experience using industry standard IT/process systems to deliver projects.
• Working towards Chartership.
• Degree or HNC level qualification.
• Ability to manage and prioritise more than one project at a time.

Responsibilities

• Support feasibility studies and procurement reports.
• Prepare cost estimates and cost plans, including final cost plans presentation.
• Support tendering and procurement activities including tender lists and reports.
• Manage post-contract cost variations and change control processes.
• Undertake cost checks and valuations within timescales.
• Produce and present monthly post-contract cost reports to clients and stakeholders.
• Contribute to value engineering and cost optimisation initiatives.
• Negotiate and agree final accounts.
• Collaborate with clients, consultants and stakeholders throughout all stages.

Turner & Townsend alinea is seeking Cost Managers to join our dynamic, award‑winning Cost Management team in our London office, working within the Real Estate team.

Candidates with experience gained in consultancy, client‑side, contractor, or related environments are encouraged to apply. RICS membership, or progress towards professional accreditation, would be advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

• Support feasibility studies and the preparation of procurement reports.
• Prepare cost estimates and cost plans, including the production and presentation of final cost plans.
• Support tendering and procurement activities, including managing pre‑qualification processes, preparing tender lists, compiling preliminaries, undertaking tender analysis, producing tender reports, and preparing contractual documentation.
• Manage post‑contract cost variations and change control processes, escalating significant changes where appropriate.
• Undertake cost checks and valuations, ensuring all cost management activities are completed accurately and within required timescales.
• Produce and present monthly post‑contract cost reports to clients and project stakeholders.
• Contribute to value engineering exercises and cost optimisation initiatives.
• Negotiate and agree final accounts.
• Collaborate with clients, consultants, and other project stakeholders throughout all stages of project delivery.
• Where appropriate, lead cost management teams, ensuring high standards of performance, accountability, and service delivery.

Qualifications

• Good technical grounding in all of the main areas of cost management and contractor a background
• Experience of acting as Commission Manager on small to medium sized projects, or at least sufficient related experience to enable a step up to performing the role of Commission Manager
• Good knowledge of the main procurement methods and their application with respect to the 'tactical procurement' of small to medium sized buildings
• Knowledge and understanding of value engineering
• Experience of utilising a range of industry standard processes and systems (IT and other) in order to effectively deliver a project.
• Working towards Chartership
• Degree or HNC level qualification
• Ability to successfully manage and prioritise more than one project at a time.
