Job summary

Rolls-Royce Submarines in Derby is seeking a Cost Estimating Lead to define and execute the cost estimating strategy for a major engineering programme. You will lead the performance measurement baseline, develop and maintain artefacts, and coach teams to deliver accurate estimates across complex projects.

The role requires strong PM/APM qualification or equivalent knowledge, with 5 years in cost estimating and a good grasp of data analytics.

Qualifications

  • Degree level qualification in PM or APM or equivalent PM knowledge.
  • 5 years’ experience in Cost Estimating.
  • Data analytics experience is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret information from multiple sources.

Responsibilities

  • Recognised as local authority in cost estimating and stay updated via CPD.
  • Develop and maintain cost estimating implementation plans.
  • Lead creation and maintenance of cost estimating project artefacts.
  • Coach and develop others in cost estimating or lead small/medium teams.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Cost Estimating Lead to join Rolls-Royce Submarines in Derby. To support our engineering teams, we now require a highly motivated project team to deploy and execute the full breadth of project management practices in this rapidly growing, fast paced engineering programme. You will be a key member in the project team in the early phase of the project, leading the definition and execution of the performance measurement baseline. You will take a key role in establishing and delivering fuel and the fuel facility infrastructure for nuclear products of the future. Hybrid working is a way in which our people can balance their time between the office, home, or another remote location. It’s a locally managed and flexed informal discretionary arrangement. What you will be doing:
  • Recognised as local authority in relation to cost estimating and maintaining that status by continuing professional development, monitoring the external environment for opportunities and liaising with group and other sector functions.
  • Develop and maintain implementation plans in the area of cost estimating.
  • Lead the creation and maintenance of project artefacts in area of cost estimating.
  • Coach and develop others where appropriate in the cost estimating discipline or provide expert guidance and authoritative leadership to small/medium teams.
  • Ideally attained Degree level qualification in PM or APM Project Management Qualification or can demonstrate equivalent PM knowledge.
  • Ideally 5 years’ experience with majority of years’ experience in Cost Estimating. Data analytics experience is advantageous but not essential.
  • Demonstrate good analytical skills with an ability to analyse and interpret information from different sources.
