Job summary

Turner & Townsend is recruiting cost engineering professionals for its UK Real Estate Controls & Performance team within the Defence sector. You will contribute to cost control, reporting, and forecasting on projects of medium complexity.

The role requires a strong foundation in cost control techniques and the ability to work with multiple disciplines. Candidates should hold strong IT skills (Excel, SAP/Sage), and demonstrate clear communication.

Qualifications

• Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Demonstrable Project Cost Control techniques.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to coordinate with other teams and work across multi-disciplinary environments.
• Professional working knowledge of Project Controls software and tools.

Responsibilities

• Implement, administer and maintain cost control systems and procedures to track project budgets, commitments, expenditures and forecasts for projects of medium complexity and value.
• Assist in the preparation and review of cost estimates.
• Provide cost information to support decision and alternative selection.
• Evaluate contractor invoices prior to submission for pre-approval.
• Utilize Cost Capture System data to inform cost reports and spending validation.
• Evaluate and analyse fee proposals/bids and provide recommendations for decision making.
• Provide forecasts and cash flow analysis.
• Maintain and manage the cost report and provide regular updates on financial position.

Job Description

Our UK Real Estate Controls & Performance team has new & exciting opportunities within the Defence sector. We are currently looking to engage with cost engineering professionals with demonstrable experience delivering projects within Defence or other highly regulated industries.

Cost Engineers work as part of our project controls teams, providing performance reporting and analysis support. This may be part of a large team or as the key day to day contact point with the client.

We are seeking people to join our organisation who have a positive outlook, are seeking development opportunities and have a strong foundation of technical understanding in their core area of activity.

Key deliverables (Not limited to):

• Implement, administer and maintain cost control systems and procedures to track project budgets, commitments, expenditures and forecasts for projects of medium complexity and value
• Assist in the preparation and review of cost estimates
• Provide cost information to support decision and alternative selection

• Utilize information from Cost Capture System and input to cost report and validation of spending
• Evaluate and analyse fee proposals / bids and provide recommendation for decision making

Qualifications

• Computer literate in Microsoft applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
• Knowledge and Proficiency with multiple discipline specific software applications such as SAP, Sage etc.
• Demonstrable Project Cost Control techniques.
• Able to coordinate and work with other teams and have basic multi-disciplinary knowledge.
• Good research and analytical skills, as well as excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Professional working knowledge of Project Controls software and tools.

Owing to the sensitive nature of the works involved in these specialist defence projects, candidates will be required to hold, or be able to hold, valid security clearance (SC) and in order to do so will need to be:

• British Nationals
• Hold a UK Passport
