Job description

Due to continued growth and increased project demand, an established global construction consultancy is looking to appoint Cost Engineers at various levels to its Energy & Natural Resources team.

Opportunities are available for professionals ranging from Cost Engineer through to Senior and Associate Director levels, with responsibilities and package ownership tailored to experience.

The roles will require regular attendance on site (3 days per week) in Teesside, supporting package engagement, progress alignment, cost reviews and coordination with the wider project team.

The Role

You'll provide package-level cost management, forecasting and performance analysis across major project scopes.

Depending on your level of experience, you'll take responsibility for individual packages or broader areas of project cost performance, ensuring cost information is robust, current and aligned with progress, commercial assurance, QS inputs and forecast outturn reporting.

You'll work closely with Planning, Commercial, Quantity Surveying, Construction, Contractor and Subcontractor teams, providing clear visibility across actual costs, forecasts, commitments, change, trends, variances and emerging cost risks.

For more experienced hires, there will also be greater responsibility for challenging forecasts, providing cost assurance, managing stakeholder relationships and supporting the development of less experienced members of the team.

What We're Looking For

We're interested in speaking with Cost Engineering professionals at different stages of their careers.

Relevant experience could include:

  • Cost engineering or cost control on major construction or capital programmes
  • Cost forecasting, reporting and variance analysis
  • Forecast to Complete (FTC) and Forecast at Completion (FAC) reviews
  • Contractor and Subcontractor cost and progress reporting
  • Cost and programme/progress alignment
  • Construction delivery and commercial interfaces
  • Change and early-warning cost assessment
  • Cost risk identification and escalation
  • Working within integrated Project Controls teams
  • Strong Excel and cost reporting capabilities
  • A good understanding of construction delivery, commercial interfaces and contract administration

Experience within Oil & Gas, petrochemical, clean energy, energy transition, power, utilities or heavy industrial projects would be particularly relevant.

Depending on the level you're applying for, experience in the following would be advantageous:

  • Experience working within FIDIC, NEC, reimbursable or target cost contract environments
  • Client-side cost assurance or cost verification
  • AFP reviews and cost audits
  • Disallowed cost identification and commercial assurance
  • Power BI or integrated project controls reporting
  • Cost management systems and dashboards
  • Buildings, HV, M&E, Civil or Utilities packages
  • Challenging Contractor forecasts and cost submissions
  • Mentoring or supporting junior Cost Engineering professionals
Why Consider It?

These opportunities suit Cost Engineers who want to work on complex, major Energy & Natural Resources programmes while remaining close to project delivery.

Whether you're developing your Cost Engineering career or already operating at a senior level, the scope can be shaped around your experience, with opportunities to take on increasingly complex packages and greater levels of responsibility.

You’ll join an established Project Controls environment where Cost, Planning, Commercial and Construction teams work closely together
