Cost Engineer - Major Infrastructure Project | Somerset | 12 month contract | £275pd PAYE / £375pd Umbrella

We're supporting one of the UK's flagship energy infrastructure programmes - a multi-billion-pound new build project that's shaping the future of low-carbon power.

As part of a large Integrated Project Controls team, we're looking for an experienced Cost Engineer to help drive cost management and forecasting excellence across multiple engineering and construction workstreams. This is a great opportunity to work at the heart of a major national project, supporting the successful delivery of a complex and high-profile build.

Role Overview

You’ll work within the Cost & Forecasting team, helping to implement project controls strategies, maintain accurate cost data, and provide insightful analysis to key stakeholders. You’ll liaise closely with Project Managers, Planners, and Engineers to ensure that cost, schedule, and performance data are aligned across all project areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support and maintain project cost and forecasting processes across assigned work areas
  • Produce high-quality cost reports and performance insights to inform decision‑making
  • Ensure compliance with governance and reporting standards
  • Identify and highlight cost trends, risks, and opportunities
  • Collaborate across project teams to drive consistency and accuracy in financial data
About You
  • HND or equivalent qualification in Project Management, Project Controls, Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Experience working in a project controls or cost engineering capacity
  • Experience on large‑scale construction or infrastructure projects desirable (nuclear experience a bonus, not essential)
  • Strong analytical, numerical, and communication skills
  • Proficient in software such as Excel, EcoSys, Power BI, SAP, or similar project control tools

Rate: £275pd PAYE / £375pd Umbrella

Location: Hinkley Point C, Somerset / Hybrid (3 days per week on site)
