Job summary

AXA Partners is seeking a newly qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA Cost Accountant to join our finance team on a 12-month fixed-term contract in the United Kingdom. You will lead month-end close, post journal entries, reconcile accounts and analyze cost reports to support management decisions.

You will manage payroll accounting, explain variances between P&L and balance sheet, ensure audit readiness, and prepare board packs for CFO presentations while collaborating with FP&A on budgets and forecasts.

Qualifications

• Newly qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA with relevant experience.
• High integrity, professionalism and confidentiality.
• Strong analytical skills to interpret financial data.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
• Proactive team player with collaborative mindset.
• Knowledge of FCA reporting, SM&CR, Consumer Duty is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the month-end closing process within a 5-day window.
• Prepare, review and post journal entries; reconcile accounts for accuracy.
• Analyse quarterly cost reports to inform management decisions.
• Manage payroll accounting, including wages, deductions and benefits.
• Develop understanding of cost base and variances between P&L and balance sheet.
• Handle large datasets with meticulous detail and auditable trails.
• Support audit readiness with transparent, compliant financial results.
• Prepare board packs for CFO and collaborate with FP&A on budgets and forecasts.
