Do you enjoy tax technical research and solving complex technical queries? We are looking for a talented individual at Manager level, from either a corporate or mixed tax background, to be part of our national Central Technical Team. The ideal candidate will have very strong technical skills, drive, and curiosity.

The Central Technical team collaborates with teams across the tax practice to collect, create, curate, and communicate technical insight for the benefit of our teams and clients. This involves conducting original research and analyzing knowledge submissions to produce and maintain technical resources supporting our work, assisting with complex technical queries, producing tax technical newsletters, and monitoring important tax developments arising from case law or the Budget and Finance Bill process. The team works closely with the Tax Policy team as needed.

We are expanding our team to increase our technical expertise, accelerate our collection of detailed guidance, and ensure our reference materials are current and aligned with technological developments, including AI tools.

Team members are based across the UK, offering flexible and hybrid working arrangements. While the role is not directly client-facing, a keen understanding of client issues is essential.

What will you be doing?

  • Producing technical reference and thought leadership materials on specified topics.
  • Undertaking research to draft technical materials based on legislation, case law, and guidance, incorporating insights from existing resources and subject matter experts.
  • Maintaining and updating materials promptly for legal and regulatory changes.
  • Supporting client service teams with complex technical queries as needed.
  • Engaging with HMRC and HMT on relevant issues, including responses to consultations.
  • Assisting with the development of new technology solutions, including AI tools, for technical research.
  • Providing technical support to the training team, including developing, reviewing, and presenting training sessions.

What will you need to do it?

  • Relevant legal or tax qualification (CTA or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with the UK tax system and ability to quickly learn new regimes and topics.
  • Confidence in interpreting legislation and case law, with basic legal research skills.
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Awareness of tax technology tools, including AI, is desirable but not essential.
  • Experience in delivering practical advice to clients is desirable but not essential.

We support flexible working options to meet individual needs and aim to provide a stimulating environment to help you achieve your career ambitions.
