Hays is working with a Top 4 firm in Cambridge that is looking to appoint a Corporate Tax Manager following continued growth and internal promotions within the team. This is an excellent opportunity for an established Manager who wants the quality and variety of work associated with a leading firm, while benefiting from an exceptionally flexible working pattern, currently requiring just one day a week in the Cambridge office.
You will manage a broad and interesting portfolio of clients, ranging from start-ups and owner-managed businesses through to FTSE and other listed organisations, across sectors including life sciences, manufacturing, logistics and services. The portfolio currently has a slightly greater compliance weighting, but advisory work is growing and there is plenty of opportunity to develop in this area. You therefore don't need to be an advisory specialist already. Strong corporate tax compliance experience combined with the ambition to broaden your advisory exposure would work particularly well.
You will also benefit from exposure to work across the wider London region, giving you access to a greater variety of clients and assignments than you might typically expect from a regional role.
To be successful, you will
Candidates who have moved into an in-house tax role and are interested in returning to practice will also be considered, provided they have a strong existing UK tax background. For candidates with overseas experience, approximately three years or more of UK tax experience is likely to be required.
One of the biggest attractions of this role is the flexibility. The Cambridge team is currently working in the office just one day per week, with the remaining four days available to work remotely, although additional office attendance may occasionally be required for business needs and the firm's wider hybrid policy could apply in future. Alongside the flexibility, there is a clear longer-term progression route towards Senior Manager, supported by increasing exposure to advisory work, larger clients and the wider regional practice.
This is a strong opportunity if you're looking for the combination of Top 4 experience, a varied client base, increasing advisory exposure, genuine career progression and significant homeworking flexibility.
