Job description

The Corporate Health and Safety Team are seeking a highly motivated health and safety practitioner to join their small but busy team delivering corporate health and safety and emergency planning services to all departments across the Council.

You will have an interestingand diverse workload playing a key role providing operational support to colleagues ensuring the Council achieves and maintains compliance in all aspects of corporate health and safety, fire safety and emergency planning.

You will be a team player working in a supportive environment with a particular focus on health and safety compliance within our social housing and neighbourhood services departments whilst maintaining the provision of clear, consistent, quality health and safety (including fire safety) advice and guidance across all areas of the Council.

Duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Undertaking health and safety and fire safety risk assessments
  • Health and safety inspections and auditing
  • Health and safety training
  • Accident/incident investigations
  • Provision of advice and guidance to ensure compliance with construction regulations (CDM)
  • Residential building safety and security checks (fire safety, asbestos, legionella control etc.)
