Job Summary

The East of England Regional Director's Office is a small central team led by the Chief of Staff. It oversees the region's key priorities and supports regional interaction with national directors and programmes.

The Regional Delivery Unit is a high‑profile strategic team that delivers the new operating model, streamlines governance and reporting, oversees programme delivery and ensures key targets are met.

Main Duties of the Job

As Corporate Governance and Risk Lead, you will report to the Deputy Head of Regional Delivery Unit. The role is split largely between overseeing the region's corporate governance framework and risk management processes (≈50%) and contributing to a fully functioning Regional Delivery Unit.

Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain procedures for integrated governance of the Region, including designing new reporting infrastructure.
  • Support the Deputy Head in setting up new reporting, methodologies and processes for regional priorities and programmes.
  • Maintain the Region’s risk management policy and Core Stream system, including ownership of the risk register.
  • Provide advice and guidance to staff on governance, information governance and risk; ensure best practice and ownership of the Region’s governance handbook and key corporate processes.

Qualifications – Essential

  • Master’s level qualification or equivalent senior level experience in a specialist area.

Knowledge and Experience – Essential

  • Subject‑matter expertise in key risk and governance areas.
  • Evidence of post‑qualifying and ongoing professional development.
  • Demonstrable senior management experience.
  • Understanding of current healthcare policy and its implications for engagement.
  • Familiarity with the relationships between the Department of Health, NHS England/Improvement and provider/commissioning organisations.
  • Experience delivering against competing priorities and deadlines while directing teams.
  • Financial responsibility, including budgeting and financial process knowledge.
  • Staff and function management.
