Job summary

Blackpool Council is seeking a Corporate Fraud Officer to join the Audit and Risk Team. You will investigate fraud against the council, including council tax and procurement, and support data matching initiatives to safeguard public funds.

The role requires an experienced counter-fraud background, strong communication, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Hybrid working is available with some office-based days.

Contract Type: Permanent

Contract Hours: 37 per week

Salary: NJC Grade F SCP 19-24 £33,119 - £36,581 per annnum

We have an exciting opportunity for a Corporate Fraud Officer to join our friendly Audit and Risk Team at Blackpool Council.

The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, a strong communicator with excellent attention to detail and the ability to write reports to a high standard. An experienced and qualified counter fraud/investigative background is required with the ability to work on your own and as part of a team to undertake a wide range of investigations. These can range from fraud committed against the council such as council tax, procurement and blue badge fraud alongside internal investigations when the need arises and participating in data matching exercises, meaning the successful candidate will conduct criminal investigations and utilise the law to safeguard the public purse.

The successful candidate will also have a role in the delivery of the proactive work programme delivered bythe team, with the aim to prevent and detect fraud whilst embedding an anti-fraud culture across all directorates within the Council and also allowing residents easy ways to participate in the fight against fraud.
