Overview

Role: Corporate & Commercial Associate Solicitor / Junior Partner

Location: Northampton

Salary: Competitive

Permanent, Full-Time

We're looking for a Corporate & Commercial Solicitor (Associate to Junior Partner level). An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Corporate & Commercial Solicitor to join a growing, highly regarded law firm based in Northampton. This is a fantastic role for a senior lawyer seeking quality, complex work with a broad client base across the region — without the hours or commute associated with city firms. You'll be part of a collaborative team working with entrepreneurial businesses and offering genuine scope for progression to partnership.

Key Responsibilities
  • Advise clients on a diverse range of corporate and commercial matters, including:
  • Mergers, acquisitions, and disposals
  • Succession planning and business sales
  • Employee share schemes (EMIs, EBTs, EOTs)
  • Restructuring and demergers
  • Governance documents (Shareholder Agreements, Articles of Association, Partnership Agreements)
  • Commercial contracts and franchising
  • Finance documentation and joint ventures
  • Contribute to business development, mentoring junior colleagues, and strengthening the department\'s reputation within the local market.
The Ideal Candidate
  • Qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive with around 8+ years PQE (guideline only).
  • Strong background in corporate and commercial law with confidence managing complex transactions.
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and deal-management skills.
  • Commercially astute, articulate, and relationship-driven.
  • Proactive, entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to build new and existing client relationships.
  • Supportive leader who enjoys developing others and contributing to a positive team culture.
Desirable
  • Experience managing client portfolios or leading business development initiatives.
  • Established client following or professional network within Northamptonshire or the East Midlands.
  • Experience advising SMEs, OMBs, or fast-growing regional businesses.
Culture

The firm offers a supportive and professional culture where work-life balance and career development are genuinely prioritised. With over 200 years of local heritage, they\'re deeply embedded in the community, actively supporting local schools, universities, and the Chamber of Commerce. Many departments are Legal 500-recognised, and the firm is proud of its track record in developing talent from within — several Partners began their careers here. Recently awarded Large Law Firm of the Year 2025 by their regional Law Society, this is a team that combines professional excellence with a human touch.

Hybrid Working

While predominantly office-based, hybrid working requests are reviewed on an individual basis. The firm operates an “in more than not” policy and asks that all new starters are fully office-based during their six-month probation period.

Benefits
  • Competitive salary (commensurate with experience and seniority)
  • 26 days\' holiday (including 3 over Christmas closure)
  • Holiday increases in years 3 & 5 (up to 28 days)
  • Life assurance (3× salary)
  • BUPA healthcare cover
  • 1 paid volunteering day per year
  • Pension with matched contributions up to 4%
  • Annual Staff Recognition Awards
  • Enhanced packages available for Junior Partners
Additional Information

All offers are subject to Right to Work, references, SRA, and DBS checks. PQE levels are provided as a guide — applications from candidates with more or fewer years\' experience, or those with FILEX or SRA registration, are warmly welcomed.
