Job summary

Wintermute is seeking an experienced developer to join the Core Development team in London. You will work in a small, high‑impact group, writing clean and concise code while collaborating with traders, quants and the DeFi team.

Most services are written in Python, with C++ for high‑performance components. You will contribute to data capture, reconciliation, and GUI systems, while operating on Linux and PostgreSQL in a collaborative, fast‑moving environment.

Qualifications

• 2+ years Python experience; strong proficiency in Python development.
• C++ experience is an advantage for high‑performance components.
• Experience with SQL databases and data modeling.
• Comfortable with Linux environments and tooling.
• Interest in crypto or finance related work.

Responsibilities

• Join the Core Development team and contribute to multiple areas of the business.
• Collaborate with traders, quants, DeFi team, and middle office on projects.
• Develop predominantly in Python, with C++ for high‑performance modules.
• Build and enhance data capture, reconciliation, and GUI systems.
• Own features end‑to‑end from design to deployment.

Working at Wintermute

We are looking for an experienced developer to join the Core Development team. Joining us means working on a small, highly efficient team with a broad mandate that covers many areas of the business. The role will be ideal for someone who is pragmatic, passionate about what they do and capable of writing clean and concise code. Neither crypto nor finance experience is required; we care more about your technical skills and mindset. We also look for strong interpersonal skills as you will work closely with traders, C++ developers, middle office, quantitative researchers and the DeFi Team on various projects.

Most of our services are written in Python, but we also have high-performance infrastructure written in C++. For both Python and C++ we are usually on the most recent versions. Besides that we use Linux for all machines, PostgreSQL for databases and a few bespoke in-house solutions for problems common in high-frequency trading.

Examples of projects

• Capturing data about our own trading activities from the large number of exchanges we trade on, and exposing this to internal systems and users.
• A reconciliation system matching trade and transfer information to produce real-time positions, alerts and reports.
• The GUI used by traders for their day-to-day activities.
• An automated settlement system for settling balances with counterparties who trade directly with us instead of going through exchanges.
• A storage system used by quants for their machine learning features.
• At least 2 years of Python experience.
• C++ experience is an advantage.
• Experience with SQL databases.
• Comfortable with Linux.
• Interest in either crypto or finance.
• Any experience relevant to the work we do would be an advantage.
