Overview

An opportunity has arisen within the Environment & Regeneration directorate for a Peripatetic Cook to work under the supervision of the Assistant Team Leader – Catering in the production of the School Meals Catering Service, observing all food hygiene and health and safety regulations.

Responsibilities
  • The successful candidate will undertake the full range of Cook’s duties in their absence to include all administrative duties and procedures.
  • The purpose of the role is to provide the catering service at various sites throughout the Authority, you will supervise others in the workplace by working within the guidelines set out by Blaenau Gwent Catering to ensure the correct performance standards are achieved.
  • The postholder may be asked to cover long or short-term absences within Blaenau Gwent School Meals Service.
  • You will be prepared to work additional hours or at any reasonable time of day as required, to ensure the smooth running of the catering unit.
Qualifications
  • The successful candidate will possess a City & Guilds 706/1, 706/2 or NVQ Level1/2 in Catering and Food Safety Level 2 & 3 qualifications.
  • You will have experience of working within the catering industry with practical catering skills.
