A leading charity organization in Derry/Londonderry is looking for a Grade Cook to prepare nutritious meals for service users. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring kitchen hygiene and accommodating dietary needs. Ideal candidates should have food safety qualifications and experience in a catering environment. The role offers a permanent contract with varied working hours.
Grade Cook - £13.56 per hour. Reporting to LMT. Location Foyle Haven 23A John Street, Derry/Londonderry, BT48 6JY. Contract Permanent. Hours 25 hours per week (7-day rota based).
Remit of the service
To be a member of a multi-disciplined team using holistic approaches to support Depaul service users. Working to a housing-led, low threshold, harm reduction approach, where service users receive a high degree of support and advice. Depaul has a commitment to service user participation and to empowering our service users to manage their own lives.
Foyle Haven operates as a day service where street drinkers can access practical assistance and support to reduce the harm caused by their use of alcohol. Practical assistance provided includes hot meals, access to shower and laundry facilities and a programme of regular social activities for adults with a dependence on alcohol.
The cook is at the very heart of the service and will deliver delicious home cook nutritional meals with varying dietary requirements. They will ensure that hygiene and cleanliness within the kitchen are of the highest standards. We provide up to three meals a day for up to 23 service users, aimed at improving the health of our service users. The cook will work as part of a highly motivated team that provides a needs led practical support and advice to those using our services.
The above list is not exhaustive; additional areas of responsibility may be added over time and flexibility to cover for other staff roles is required from time to time.
