Job summary

Isle Court Care Home in Bicton, Shrewsbury, is seeking a cook to support the head chef in preparing meals for residents. The position requires 44 hours per week with alternate weekend work.

You will follow menu plans, supervise junior staff, and participate in training on Food Hygiene, Health & Safety, and COSHH, ensuring proper labelling and storage of food."

Salary: £11.75 per hour (To include working alternate weekends)

44 Hours per week

At Isle Court Nursing home in Bicton, Shrewsbury, we are looking for a cook to assist the head chef in the preparation and cooking of food for our residents.

Cook Duties include:

• To assist in the preparation and cooking of food following menus already prepared by the Head Chef and Group Catering Manager
• To supervise and help train junior staff in catering duties.
• To train junior staff in all Food Hygiene, Health & Safety and COSHH regulations and ensuring their compliance with the same.
• To ensure the correct labelling and storage of food at all times.
• To attend in-service training for Moving and Handling Infection Control Fire Safety Basic Food Hygiene COSHH

Experience needed by the Cook

• Previous experience of work as a cook / chef within a health and social care setting is not essential, but may be an advantage, for example experience of a nursing home, hospital or working with clients with disability and/or dementia
