A charitable organization is seeking a Cook to join the Food and Beverage team at Brodie Castle. In this role, you will prepare high-quality food for a café environment while ensuring excellent service standards and compliance with health and safety regulations. Ideal candidates should have a passion for cooking, strong organizational and communication skills, and preferably hold a Food Hygiene Certificate and culinary qualification. This is a full-time, fixed-term role offering a starting salary between £28,228 and £30,118 per annum.
An opportunity has arisen for a Cook to join the Food and Beverage team at Brodie Castle, preparing food for a high quality sit in café and grab and go takeaway menu across the Castle Café and Playful Café.
This role helps generate the income that enables the charity to care for Brodie Castle and Estate, while ensuring visitors from across the world enjoy an excellent experience through strong service standards and consistent menu availability.
You will be responsible for the daily operation of the kitchen, delivering safe, efficient food production while meeting targets.
You will prepare and produce food to a consistently high standard using fresh ingredients, supporting a quality offer across high and low season.
You will contribute to menu development, making creative, practical, and cost effective choices for food production and presentation.
You will maintain high standards of hygiene, cleanliness, and tidiness, following Food Safety Management Systems and keeping compliance documentation up to date, including HACCP, COSHH checklists, and temperature records.
You will work with the management team to ensure food and non‑food items are ordered appropriately, and stock is controlled to a high standard.
You will ensure allergen guidelines are followed, including Natasha’s Law, and support preparation for upcoming requirements such as nutritional value and calorie display.
You will minimise waste, identify savings, and support cost of sales, gross profit, and environmental sustainability targets.
You will ensure the upkeep and safe use of equipment and utensils used within catering outlets.
You will share responsibility for health and safety, being mindful at all times of the safety of staff, volunteers, visitors, and yourself.
Experience and passion as a cook, preparing and producing food to a consistently high standard using fresh products and ingredients.
Strong organisational skills suited to a busy, multitasking environment.
Excellent communication skills, spoken and written.
Ability to work as part of a busy team while supporting a positive and motivated atmosphere.
An Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate is preferred.
A recognised formal culinary qualification is desirable.
Full time, 40 hours per week.
Fixed term contract, 12 months.
Location Brodie Castle.
Starting salary Grade 3 Lower, £28,228 to £30,118 per annum, pro rata.
