Job summary

The Orders of St John Care Trust is seeking a Bank Cook in Malmesbury to join our caring kitchen team. You will prepare meals for residents, ensuring dietary needs and nutritional standards are met, while maintaining high hygiene and safety practices.

Flexibility for weekend work and bank hours is required, with duties including food preparation, presentation, and collaborating with the catering team to deliver a warm dining experience for residents.

Qualifications

• Experience in a professional kitchen and catering for specialist diets.
• Experience serving large groups in a care setting is desirable.
• Basic Food Hygiene Certificate required or in progress.

Pay rate: £13.78ph Mon-Fri, £14.18ph weekends

Contracted hours:Bank hours to cover annual leave and sickness

Shift pattern: 7:30am to 7:30pm

ABOUT THE ROLE

Are you an experienced catering assistant, commis chef or cook that takes pride in your work?

We're currently recruiting for a Cook to join our passionate, hard-working and friendly catering team, to create delicious meals for our residents.

Nutrition is an important element of the care package that we provide. You'll be actively involved in the nutritional needs of our residents, to ensure that a high-quality dining experience is received by everyone. You'll get to know our residents and their families so that you'll be motivated to understand and accommodate their personal preferences. Some weekend work will be required.

Located on the outskirts of the historic medieval market town of Malmesbury, Athelstan House is a purpose-built home surrounded by a large landscaped garden. Athelstan House offers compassionate, individualised residential, nursing, dementia, respite, intermediate and day care for up to 80 residents in a modern, comfortable environment.

ABOUT YOU

You'll need to have previous experience of working in a professional kitchen and catering for specialist diets, providing meals for large groups of people, alongside a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate. Ideally you'll also be working towards a Level 2 Diploma in Food Production and Cooking or equivalent but this is not essential.

You'll be confident in engaging with our elderly residents to understand their individual needs and enjoy being part of the wider team in the home.
