Job Title: Cook at Featherby Infant and Nursery School, Gillingham

As a Cook for Sodexo, you will assist the Cook Manager in overseeing all aspects of food and beverage operations and finances in your school’s kitchen. You will support in showcasing the kitchen's supplies in an appealing way and ensure excellent service. This role offers regular hours, public holidays off—including Christmas!

Responsibilities:
  1. Prepare, cook, present, and serve food to company standards, including breakfast, morning break, lunch, and hospitality.
  2. Adhere to all company compliance standards such as Food Safety, Health and Safety, Allergen Awareness, COSHH, and HACCP regulations.
  3. Conduct craft/skills training for catering staff.
  4. Ensure all service counters and food are presented to company standards.
  5. Portion dishes according to business requirements.
  6. Complete daily/weekly cleaning duties as instructed, including all food prep and storage areas, and catering communal areas. Remove waste from catering areas.
  7. Deliver high standards in customer service, cleanliness, tidiness, and operational activities.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Minimum 1 year of hands-on cooking experience; training on Food Hygiene and Health & Safety will be provided.
  • Experience cooking for large scale (100–1300 students).
  • Experience following recipes, possibly in similar settings.
  • Experience working with fresh produce and ingredients.
  • Understanding of health and safety procedures.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a busy kitchen environment.
  • Professional attitude, leading by example, and positive outlook.
  • Basic food handling certification.
