Job title: Conversion Operator

Location: Greater Manchester

Shift Pattern: 24/7 Continental | 12-hour shift patterns

Aspion are recruiting for a Conversion Machine Operator to set up and run conversion machinery used to slit, macro‑punch, and micro‑perforate a range of plastic films.

You will work safely and efficiently in line with site standards, ensuring high‑quality output that meets customer specifications throughout every production run. Full training will be provided, but previous experience as a machine operator or machine setter is desirable.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up slitting machinery to perform slitting, hole punching, and hot‑needle perforation according to customer specifications.
  • Maintain product quality throughout production, including regular sampling and quality checks.
  • Operate processes using lean manufacturing techniques to maximise machine efficiency.
  • Bag, label, and palletise slit reels in accordance with customer requirements.
  • Use line‑side computer systems to follow schedules and production plans.
  • Maintain a clean and organised workspace in line with the site "clean as you go" policy.
  • Complete daily production reports, including output, weight, and meterage calculations.
  • Work in compliance with all site health & safety, environmental, and quality standards.
About You
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • The ability to read and follow detailed customer specifications.
  • A strong focus on quality, accuracy, and efficiency.
  • The ability to work to production schedules and priorities.
  • A proactive approach to safety and housekeeping.
  • Willingness to work a rotating shift pattern including days, nights, and weekends.

Shift Pattern (4-Week Continental Rotation, 12-Hour Shifts)

  • Week 1: 4 nights, 3 off
  • Week 2: 3 days, 1 off, 3 nights
  • Week 3: 3 off, 4 days
  • Week 4: 7 off
