Controls Service Engineer

Salary: £50,000 – £55,000 (depending on experience and skillset) + £3,500 on call allowance + Car Allowance OR Company Car

Location: Telford OR Nottingham based

Hours: 8am – 5pm (Hybrid option during in‑office weeks, 1 day per week considered)

About the Role

The client is a leading automation specialist providing technical solutions to businesses across the globe, with an extensive portfolio across leading engineering and manufacturing companies. They are expanding and require three Controls Service Engineers to join their skilled and enthusiastic team. The successful engineers will provide technical support both online and face‑to‑face, with customer satisfaction at the forefront.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to logged tickets for minor faults
  • Log onto customer PLCs remotely – fault find, troubleshoot and modify code
  • Book faults for visits later in the week
  • Attend handover meetings with Project Managers
  • Be available for client calls/emails due to PLC related faults
  • Provide remote/on‑site/email/phone support to resolve issues
  • Work on a 24/7 on‑call rota – 2 weeks a month, prepared for short notice and unsociable hours
Skills & Experience
  • Relevant qualification: Electrical/Controls Apprenticeship, HNC or Degree
  • Significant experience with PLCs at modification/design level
  • Ability to log in remotely via VPN and navigate diagnostic pages
  • Excellent communication skills to obtain diagnostic information from clients
  • Experience with Siemens TIA Portal is desirable but not required
  • Solid client‑facing/communication skills
  • Self‑reliant, self‑motivated and able to work under pressure
