Job summary

Bennett & Game Recruitment Ltd. is seeking a Controls Engineer in Stourbridge to design, commission and support industrial automation systems on warehouse and materials-handling projects.

You will perform PLC control work and hands-on electrical tasks across panels, sensors, motors and VFDs. The role requires strong Siemens PLC experience (S7-1200/1500) and deep familiarity with TIA Portal, plus the ability to fault-find and test at customer sites.

Qualifications

• Experience programming Siemens PLCs, particularly S7-1200/1500.
• Strong knowledge of Siemens TIA Portal.
• Experience with other PLC platforms is advantageous.
• Experience designing, wiring or modifying industrial electrical panels.
• Ability to read electrical drawings and schematics.
• Experience with industrial sensors and drives.

Salary: Circa £50,000

Responsibilities

• Design, build, commission and support industrial automation systems
• Work on warehouse automation, conveyor and materials-handling projects
• PLC control work plus hands-on electrical/control involvement (panels, sensors, motors, VFDs)
• Fault-find electrical and PLC-controlled equipment
• Carry out testing, commissioning and customer-site support
• Support integration of PLC systems with higher-level software systems where required

Requirements

• Good practical experience programming Siemens PLCs, particularly S7-1200 and/or S7-1500
• Strong working knowledge of Siemens TIA Portal
• Experience with other PLC platforms would be beneficial, such as Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi, Omron or Schneider
• Experience designing, building, wiring or modifying industrial electrical control panels
• Ability to read and understand electrical drawings and schematics
• Experience with industrial sensors, photoelectric sensors, encoders, relays, contactors, motors and VFDs
• Experience fault-finding electrical and PLC-controlled equipment
