About the Role
3 months with view to extension, on site. A new position for an experienced Controls Project Systems Engineer (PLC experience) is urgently required for a leading engineering services company for upcoming projects.
Responsibilities
- Program Siemens S7‑1500 PLCs using TIA Portal.
- Program WinCC SCADA systems interfacing with multiple S7‑1500 PLCs.
- Fail‑safe programming desirable.
- Act as technical lead for control panel and review electrical drawings, panel assembly.
- Generate documentation such as test plans, installation/commissioning & operation/maintenance documents.
- Manage PLC‑based system design and consultancy projects from point of sale through initial design, manufacture and site commissioning.
- Responsible for engineering design and project‑management tasks.
- Use Microsoft Word/Excel to prepare various project‑related documentation.
- Critically review and mark‑up documents/drawings generated by others, providing constructive feedback.
- Supervise workshop technicians during the system build of your own projects.
- Rigorously test, applying problem‑solving and analytical techniques to plan and carry out appropriate system tests.
- Control project work: look‑ahead planning, budgets, schedules, change control, estimating, documentation and progress reporting.
- Review client specifications and other national/international standards to ensure compliance.
- Develop functional‑requirements specifications for control systems, SIS, F&G and instrumentation.
- Participate in design reviews including HAZOP/LOPA, hazardous area, etc.
Qualifications & Experience
- HNC/HND or degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Several years experience in PLC configuration and application software development (e.g. ABB C500‑S/800xAHI, Emerson Delta V SIS, Triconex, HIMA F60 / HiQuad X, Siemens S7‑failsafe, Allen Bradley ControlLogix / GuardLogix).
- Customer‑facing, strong communication skills from a technical and commercial perspective.
- HMI/SCADA configuration experience (e.g. Siemens WinCC / PCS7 / Emerson DeltaV).
- Industrial communications system architectural design and selection/configuration of appropriate protocols (Profinet / Profibus / Modbus TCP & RTU / OPC, etc.).
- Experience in planning and delivery of technical projects.
- Process safety experience desirable (building burner management systems).
- UK driving licence.
Salary & Benefits
£43,000 – £53,000 + 25 Days Holiday + Pension + Life Assurance + Healthcare + Training & Development.
Location
Field‑based coverage of London (commutable from Slough, Watford, Croydon, Enfield, Romford, Hounslow). Mainly office based with client site visits; must be able to drive with a car. Site visits normally within the UK.
