Job summary

Controls Engineer

£35,000 - £50,000 DOE +£4K car allowance + Bonus

This company delivers end-to-end electrical and automation solutions, primarily for the water and wastewater sector. Services include in‑house design, manufacture, and commissioning of control systems such as MCCs, LV switchgear, and PLC/SCADA panels. Working here offers hands‑on involvement in full project lifecycles, exposure to essential infrastructure projects, and a collaborative environment that supports technical growth and professional development.

The Role
  • Design and implement control systems including Allen Bradley and Mitsubishi PLCs
  • Develop and manage HMI SCADA systems for optimal operational efficiency
  • Create Functional Design Specifications (FDS) and I/O Schedules in line with project requirements
  • Interpret P&I‑D's to ensure accurate system configuration and performance
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver projects on time and within budget
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by staying abreast of industry trends and technologies
The Person
  • Proven experience in PLC/Controls Engineering
  • Proficiency with Allen Bradley and Mitsubishi PLCs
  • Strong skills in HMI SCADA systems
  • Ability to read and interpret P&I‑D's
  • Excellent problem‑solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • A proactive attitude and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Located in Nottinghamshire, this role would be commutable from Nottingham, Leicester, Derby and can be highly hybrid with the majority of time either work from home or up to 40% at client site across the East of England with monthly meetings at head office in Nottinghamshire.
