Job summary

April Quest Ltd in Sheffield is seeking an experienced Controls/Automation/PLC engineer to design, develop and commission robust automation solutions across diverse industries. You will work with Siemens TIA Portal, STEP 7, Allen-Bradley Studio 5000 and RSLogix, creating reliable PLC, HMI and SCADA configurations while supporting FAT/SAT and technical documentation.

You will collaborate with customers and engineering teams to resolve issues and optimise systems across Power & Energy, Water, Rail

Qualifications

• Experience in a Controls, Automation or PLC Engineering role.
• Strong programming skills with Siemens and/or Allen-Bradley PLCs.
• Understanding of industrial control systems, electrical drawings and communications networks.
• Practical troubleshooting and problem-solving ability.
• Confident working independently and in project teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop and modify PLC software using Siemens TIA Portal/STEP 7 and/or Allen-Bradley Studio 5000/RSLogix.
• Design and configure HMI and SCADA applications.
• Support control system design, integration and testing across a varied project portfolio.
• Carry out fault finding, commissioning and system optimisation.
• Work closely with customers and engineering teams to deliver automation solutions.
• Support FAT and SAT activities and produce technical documentation.
