Job summary

Belcan seeks a Controls / Automation Design Engineer to join our Lincoln-based team on an initial 6-month contract. The role focuses on developing AutoCAD electrical symbols and designing control panels for automation systems.

The ideal candidate has strong AutoCAD experience and familiarity with ControlLogix, PCS7, STEP 7, and Allen-Bradley PLCs, with a background in engineering drawings and panel design.

Qualifications

• Strong AutoCAD electrical experience required.
• Experience in automation control systems design is highly desirable.
• Experience with Allen Bradley PLCs is essential.
• Experience creating engineering drawings, symbols, templates and standard designs.

Responsibilities

• Create a new AutoCAD symbol library for controls and automation.
• Develop symbols for ControlLogix, PCS7, STEP 7 TIA, fire & gas equipment, terminals and circuit breakers.
• Create and update standard AutoCAD designs and templates.
• Convert standard junction box designs into AutoCAD and support standardisation of controls and automation designs.

Controls engineer / Automation Design Engineer

Location: Lincoln- hybrid (2-3 days office)

Contract: 6 months - Inside IR35

Hours: 37 hours per week

Rate: Umb: 64 - 87 p/h / PAYE : 48 - 65 p/h PAYE (depending on experience)

Our client is a global leader in energy technology and are currently looking for an experienced Controls / Automation Design Engineer to join an engineering team based at Lincoln, on an initial 6-month contract.

The successful Controls / Automation Design Engineer will have strong AutoCAD experience and ideally a good understanding of automation Control systems, PLC Systems and control panel design.

Key Responsibilities

As a Controls system engineer / Automation controls Design Engineer, you will be responsible for:

• Creating a new AutoCAD Symbol Library for Controls and Automation.
• Developing symbols for ControlLogix, PCS7, STEP 7 TIA, Fire & Gas equipment, vibration monitoring, terminals and circuit breakers.
• Creating and updating standard designs and templates within AutoCAD.
• Converting standard junction box designs into AutoCAD.
• Supporting the standardisation of controls and automation engineering designs.

Skills & Experience

The ideal Controls System engineer / Automation Design Engineer will have:

• Strong AutoCAD electrical experience - essential
• Experience or knowledge of Automation Control systems Design - highly desirable
• Should have Allen Bradley and PLC System experience- essential
• Experience creating engineering drawings, symbols, templates and standard designs
• Previous experience within an engineering, controls or automation environment would be advantageous.
