OMNIA Training, a UK consortium led by Raytheon UK and including Rheinmetall Electronics UK (REUK), is recruiting a Controlling Service Deputy & Safety Manager to deliver the Army Collective Training Service safely and effectively.

You will deputise for the Controlling Service Lead, lead safety across deployable engineering teams, and work with Exercise Control to ensure training meets military standards worldwide.

Qualifications

• Experience applying safety policy in a military context.
• Experience in military training or operations management (6+ years preferred).
• Leadership experience within armed forces or defence organisations.
• Ability to manage complex projects and coordinate large-scale training deployments.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement across ranks and departments.
• Proficiency in training management systems (TMS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Eligible for and willing to obtain relevant security clearances.

Responsibilities

• Assist in aligning delivery of training activities with operational requirements, defence standards, and mission preparedness goals.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders including command leadership, training instructors, and support teams.
• Ensure site-specific health, safety, and environmental policies are in place and monitored.
• Provide safety training to the training audience and supporting personnel (OMNIA and MOD) on-site and maintain records.
• Monitor compliance with safety policies during exercises.
• Apply safety and environmental management procedures per JSP 375, JSP 822 and DSA 01.
• Coordinate emergency response capabilities as needed and support exercise control.
• Deliver 1st Party Assurance by reviewing and verifying training delivery efficiency.
• Support Controlling Service Lead in their responsibilities and deputise when required.

The Role

The Role is the Controlling Service Deputy & Safety Manager, which is responsible for ensuring the safe and successful delivery of the Army Collective Training Service (ACTS) Controlling service.

Reporting

This position reports directly to the Controlling Service Lead.

Job Description

As the Controlling Service Deputy and Safety Manager, you will deputise for the Controlling Service Lead and lead the safety aspect of the Omnia Training delivery. You will help lead multiple deployable teams of engineers and work closely with Exercise Control (EXCON) during exercise delivery.

Ensuring that training exercises worldwide are compliant with military standards, delivered safely and effectively. You will recommend adjustments (supported by data) to the plan and exercise resources, dynamically accounting for training audience performance and other factors to ensure that training objectives are met.

As Safety Manager you will lead the safety aspect of the OMNIA Training delivery. You will apply safety and environmental management procedures in accordance with relevant policies, and coordinate emergency response capabilities should they be required, for example controlling routes for emergency response and supporting the Authority with exercise control (trainees and exercise staff).

You will deputise for the Controlling Service Lead when required and help drive innovation in the wider Collective Training Transformation Programme and ensure our training capabilities deliver world-class readiness for the British Army both at home and on overseas operations.

What Qualifications You Should Have

Responsibilities & Tasks

• Ensure that appropriate site‑specific health, safety, and environmental policies are in place and monitor compliance during training.
• Ensure that appropriate safety training is given to the training audience and all supporting personnel (both OMNIA and MOD) who will be present on the training estate and maintain a record of this.
• During exercise delivery, monitor compliance of all personnel with safety policies.
• Apply safety and environmental management procedures in accordance with relevant standards including JSP 375, JSP 822 and DSA 01.
• Ensure that Health and Safety Risks and Environmental Protection (HS&EP) risks are actively monitored.
• Coordinate emergency response capabilities should they be required, for example controlling routes for emergency response and supporting the Authority with exercise control (trainees and exercise staff).
• Deliver 1st Party Assurance, both reviewing and verifying the efficiency and effectiveness of training delivery.
• Support Controlling Service Lead in the discharge of their responsibilities as required.
• Deputise for Controlling Service Lead when required.

Essential Skills

• Experience in the application of safety policy and standards in a military context.
• Experience in military training, or operations management (6+ years preferred).
• Leadership experience within armed forces or defence organisations.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and coordinate large‑scale training deployments.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills across ranks and departments.
• Proficiency in training management systems (TMS), and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Eligible for and willing to obtain relevant security clearances.
