Job summary

Bluebolt Recruitment Limited is seeking a Control Systems Engineer for a machinery manufacturer in Cornwall, UK. This hands-on role combines software development, automation and electrical engineering to monitor, regulate and automate specialist equipment.

You will design and develop PLC-based control systems, create software specifications and support on-site commissioning and testing at customer sites in the UK and overseas.

Qualifications

• Engineering qualification such as a degree, HNC, HND or apprenticeship, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience in control systems, automation, electrical/electronic engineering or related roles.
• Experience developing or working with PLC-based control systems.
• Experience with industrial automation and machinery control.
• Experience developing, modifying, testing or troubleshooting control software.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop control systems for specialist manufacturing machinery and equipment
• Develop, program and modify PLC-based control systems
• Develop control system concepts, software specifications and supporting documentation
• Support the design and integration of electrical and electronic control systems
• Test, troubleshoot and optimise control systems during equipment build and commissioning
• Support fault-finding and problem-solving across control, electrical and automated systems

We are seeking a Control Systems Engineer to work for a successful machinery manufacturing company in Cornwall.

You’ll play a key role in developing the control systems and software that monitor, regulate and automate specialist manufacturing equipment. From developing control system concepts and PLC software through to testing, commissioning and supporting equipment at customer sites, this is a practical engineering role that combines software development, automation, problem-solving and hands-on engineering.

Key responsibilities:

• Design and develop control systems for specialist manufacturing machinery and equipment
• Develop, program and modify PLC-based control systems
• Develop control system concepts, software specifications and supporting documentation
• Support the design and integration of electrical and electronic control systems
• Test, troubleshoot and optimise control systems during equipment build and commissioning

Essential Skills & Experience:

• Relevant engineering qualification such as a degree, HNC, HND or apprenticeship, or equivalent practical experience
• Practical commercial/industrial experience in control systems, automation, electrical/electronic engineering or a closely related role
• Experience developing or working with PLC-based control systems
• Experience with industrial automation and machinery control
• Experience developing, modifying, testing or troubleshooting control software
