Job summary

Automation Experts Ltd is seeking a Control Systems Engineer in Cambridgeshire to design and code PLC/HMI control systems, and to carry out SCADA design using Wonderware InTouch. The role involves modifying hardware, wiring, testing, and commissioning at customer sites across the UK and worldwide.

You will collaborate with customers, document procedures, and provide optional out-of-hours support. A background in electrical or automation engineering and at least 3 years of project leadership

Qualifications

• Formal/technical qualification in electrical or automation engineering.
• Requires minimum 3 years' experience leading on projects.
• Competent with design & coding of PLC and SCADA software.
• Experience with electrical panels: 24VDC, 230VAC, 415VAC.

Responsibilities

• Design and code PLC/HMI control systems using Rockwell and/or Siemens TIA.
• Carry out SCADA software design (Wonderware InTouch).
• Modify existing hardware and panels as required.
• Communicate with customers regarding project progress.
• Test, install and commission at customer sites.
• Create technical documentation (FDS, manuals).
• Provide customer support 24/7 and out of hours (not compulsory).

Control Systems Engineer

£35,000 - £47,000 + c15% bonus + c15% overtime + travel allowances + healthcare.

Control Systems Engineer – The Role:

• Design and code PLC/HMI control systems – ideally using Rockwell and/or Siemens TIA
• Carry out SCADA software design, ideally using Wonderware InTouch
• Carry out any necessary modifications to existing hardware and panels
• Communicate effectively with customers regarding the project
• Complete all required testing and installation/commissioning at the customers site
• Write all technical documentation including FDS and Manuals
• Provide customer support 24/7 and out of hours – not compulsory

Control Systems Engineer – The Person:

• Obtained formal/technical qualifications in electrical or automation engineering
• Gained a minimum of 3 year's experience of leading on projects
• Candidates MUST be competent with design & coding of PLC and SCADA software
• Be competent with electrical panels of 24VDC, 230VAC, 415VAC

We are seeking customer focused individuals who enjoy complete project involvement including the opportunity to travel throughout the UK and worldwide – full UK valid driving license and passport are essential for this role. You will have ideally have solid background of the design and development of control systems within an automated process machinery environment. You must be prepared to spend c20% of your time travelling.

Ideal locations would include Kettering, Corby, Peterborough, Northampton, Cambridge, Bedford and Kings Lynn.
