Job summary

A leading recruitment agency is seeking a Control Room Operator to ensure high service standards in managing the M25 road network. This role requires effective coordination during incidents and communication with stakeholders. Candidates should have experience in operational control environments, strong communication skills, and a problem-solving aptitude. The position is in Dartford and offers a 6-month contract with a 4 on 4 off shift pattern.

Qualifications

  • Experience of working in an operational control room, in an emergency services or National Highways environment.
  • Experience of working in an environment involving the time-critical deployment of resources.
  • Experience of working in a performance driven environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support and direct activities for the deployment of appropriate resources to resolve incidents.
  • Accurately receive and disseminate information to optimise safety and efficiency.
  • Monitor CCTV, tunnel, and bridge safety systems and respond to alarms.
  • Ensure accurate recording of network occupancy through bespoke databases.
  • Update relevant colleagues and stakeholders on critical incidents.
  • Build strong working relationships with stakeholders including HE Regional Operations Centres.

Randstad Sourceright, a leading provider of RPO & MSP Recruitment Services are currently recruiting for a Control Room Operator, on behalf of a well known Highways agency.

Job Role

To ensure the consistent delivery of a high standard of service and performance in the operation and management of the strategic M25 DBFO road network.

Responsibilities
  • To support, direct the activities of primary and secondary response in coordinating the deployment of appropriate resources to successfully resolve incidents in compliance with company policy and contractual requirements.
  • To accurately receive and disseminate information to optimise safety and maximise efficient response and resolution of incidents.
  • To ensure that CCTV, tunnel, and bridge safety systems are monitored and that an appropriate response is taken to alarms.
  • To ensure accurate recording of network occupancy through use of bespoke databases.
  • To ensure that relevant colleagues and stakeholders are updated of critical incidents via escalation platforms.
  • To build strong, effective working relationships with stakeholders and partners including real-time liaison with the HE Regional Operations Centres, NTIC and NILO.
  • Receive and disseminate weather decisions in accordance with the Severe Weather Plan.
Requirements
  • Experience of working in an operational control room, in an emergency services or National Highways environment. Desirable but not essential.
  • Experience of working in an environment involving the time-critical deployment of resources.
  • Experience of working in a performance driven environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Aptitude for effective problem solving.
