Job summary

D R Newitt & Associates is seeking a capable Control & Instrumentation Engineer to design, develop and maintain plant automation systems. You will work closely with production and engineering teams to improve performance, support automation projects and ensure regulatory compliance across multiple process plants.

The role requires hands-on PLC/SCADA/DCS experience, familiarity with Rockwell and Siemens S7, and a solid background in process automation. An on-call rota is included with an uplift.

Qualifications

• HNC/HND (or equivalent) in Control Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Electronic Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain control and instrumentation systems.
• Test, fault-find and modify existing PLC, SCADA and DCS systems.
• Develop and implement control system improvements to optimise plant performance.
• Support automation, continuous improvement and capital project activities.
• Modify and develop PLC software using Rockwell and/or Siemens S7 platforms.
• Provide technical support for complex process control and instrumentation issues.
• Manage and coordinate external automation contractors where required.
• Produce technical documentation and project reports.
• Participate in an out-of-hours engineering support rota.
