Energy Jobline CVL is seeking an experienced Control & Systems Engineer in Burton-on-Trent. The role focuses on PLC control, Siemens S7, TIA Portal, and SCADA systems within a global manufacturing environment.

You will manage projects from concept to commissioning, perform fault finding, and work closely with production, quality, R&D and IT teams. Normal hours are Mon-Fri with salary £48,000–£58,000 DOE.

Qualifications

• HNC/HND or degree in controls, automation, or related engineering field with practical industrial experience.
• Strong background in Siemens S7, TIA Portal, and Simatic Manager.
• Experience with SCADA, PLC programming and drive systems.
• Exposure to AutoCAD and data analysis is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop, modify and fault-find PLC and control systems on site.
• Work with Siemens S7, TIA Portal and Simatic Manager.
• Support SCADA systems and industrial software integration.
• Program and fault-find AC/DC drives and deliver projects end-to-end.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams across production and quality.

Control & Systems Engineer
Burton-on-Trent
£48,000 – £58,000 DOE
Monday – Friday | 8:00am – 4:00pm | 40 hours

We’re recruiting for an experienced Control & Systems Engineer to join the engineering team of a well-established, global manufacturing business based in Burton-on-Trent.

This is a great opportunity for someone with a strong background in industrial automation, PLCs and control systems who enjoys a mix of hands‑on engineering, software development, fault finding and project work.
You’ll become a key technical specialist within the site, working on a range of automation, controls and engineering improvement projects – taking projects from initial concept and specification through to design, programming, implementation and commissioning.

What you’ll be doing

• Developing, modifying and fault finding PLC and control systems
• Working extensively with Siemens S7 – Simatic Manager and TIA Portal
• Supporting SCADA systems, PLC interfaces and industrial software integration
• Programming and fault finding AC and DC drives
• Delivering automation and control projects from concept through to completion
• Working hands‑on with production machinery, upgrades and new installations
• Identifying opportunities to improve reliability, efficiency and performance
• Producing designs, software and technical documentation
• Working alongside Engineering, Production, Quality, R&D, HSE and IT teams
• Liaising with external suppliers and contractors
• Providing technical guidance and sharing knowledge with other engineers

What we’re looking for

You’ll ideally have a HNC/HND, Degree or equivalent qualification in Controls, Automation, Industrial Software or a related engineering discipline, alongside strong practical experience within an industrial or manufacturing environment.

Some travel to other UK sites will be required, with occasional international travel possible.
