Job summary

Leicester City Council's Highway Maintenance Service is seeking Contracts Supervisors on permanent, full-time basis (42 hours per week). You will supervise highway construction and maintenance schemes, coordinating internal teams and subcontractors to ensure safety, quality and on-time delivery across Leicester city.

Successful candidates will possess planning and supervision experience, knowledge of construction methods, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders while adhering to health

We are seeking motivated and committed professionals to join Leicester City Council's Highway Maintenance Service as Contracts Supervisors. These are career-graded opportunities offering a clear pathway for development and progression, with appointments made according to your qualifications, skills, and experience. Career Progression Levels Assistant Contracts Supervisor (Band 7) Contracts Supervisor (Band 8) Senior Contracts Supervisor (Band 9) Successful candidates will be appointed at the level most appropriate to their knowledge and experience. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering essential highway maintenance services and major infrastructure projects that keep Leicester moving. You will contribute to the planning, supervision, monitoring, and delivery of construction, maintenance, and transport improvement programmes across the city.

• Senior Contracts Supervisor (Band 9)

Successful candidates will be appointed at the level most appropriate to their knowledge and experience.

Working Arrangements

These are permanent, full-time positions working 42 hours per week, Monday to Friday. To meet operational requirements, you will be expected to work up to 190 additional hours per year. These hours may be undertaken during evenings, weekdays, Bank Holidays, or weekends to support construction activities and attend meetings. Weekend hours are paid at an enhanced rate. You will also participate in a regular out-of-hours standby rota. The role is based at our Castle Park Depot on Leycroft Road, although work will take place throughout the city and occasionally further afield. A full driving licence is therefore essential. You will be provided with the necessary ICT equipment, including a desktop computer and/or mobile device, to support your work.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Contracts Supervisor, you will support the successful delivery of highway construction and maintenance schemes by supervising operational teams and subcontractors, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.

What You'll Need

You will have experience in the planning, implementation, or supervision of highway and civil engineering construction and maintenance activities.
