Job description

Supporting the Team Leader and Manager in the procurement and delivery of Voids, Repairs, Maintenance & Construction and internal service level agreements.

Our Service

North Yorkshire Councils Housing Standards team, we are responsible for ensuring the Council’s social housing portfolio of circa 9000 dwellings is maintained to meet all current statutory, regulatory, and legislative and good practice standards.

The team offer effective and efficient delivery of a vast array of contractor delivered works including but not limited to – Void Works, Repair & Maintenance, Fleet, Materials, Construction Sub-Contractor Framework, Contractor DPS Administration, Service Level Agreements with Facilities, Parks, Highways.

The role

The Housing Standards Team are looking for Contract Supervisors to carry out service procurement and contract management of contracts for the Direct Delivery team from our bases in Harrogate, Richmond, or Selby offices.

At the Senior-Level, you will be responsible for developing new contracts and leading in the procurement process, liaising with procurement and legal to resolve any significant contractual matters, day to day contract management on void contracts. The Direct Delivery team are looking for candidates with experience managing construction void projects from inception to completion, with trade knowledge from groundworks to extensions single and multi storey. You will work closely with 2 x mid level Contract Supervisors to ensure the correct contractors are allocated to the assigned void projects.

The candidate will liaise with the Team and request feedback on the performance and quality of the assigned contractor to ensure we are delivering a quality and standard that is expected off us. Where this is below the standard expected then the candidate will review with the contractor and put in place a plan to assist the contractor in improving so that they meet the required standard.

As a Senior Contract Supervisor you will:
  • Contract Oversight: Manage the day-to-day aspects of high value contracts, ensuring performance meets or exceeds expectations.
  • Site Inspections: Conduct visits to verify quality of work and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Team Liaison: Work closely with contractors, internal departments, and external service providers to maintain efficient operations.
  • Health & Safety: reviewing risk assessments and method statements to ensure suitable processes are in place.
  • Develop Contracts: Contribute to the creation of new contracts, incorporating lessons learned and working closely with procurement teams.
  • Training & Mentorship: Assist and mentor Entry & Mid-Level colleagues as needed, sharing knowledge and best practices.
The post holder

must keep up to date with all compliance, health, and safety related guidance and actively engage in the development of the service through continuous improvement initiatives.

The role involves spoken and written communication, so a confident use of the English language is required.

Post holders must have the ability to travel across the housing stock localities when required so a clean current Driving Licence is essential.
