Job summary

Nrl is seeking a commercially driven Contracts Manager / Quantity Surveyor to join our Middlesbrough team. You will manage contract performance, cost control, variations, and reporting to deliver profitability across projects.

This office-based role requires a degree in QS or related field and a strong track record in construction or engineering commercial environments. You will collaborate with clients, engineers and site teams to ensure contractual compliance and value.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of contract management and commercial principles.
  • Proven cost control, variation management, and financial reporting experience.
  • Experience in construction, engineering, or manufacturing project environments.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical capability.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and control project costs to ensure budgets and commercial targets are achieved.
  • Administer and manage variations in line with contractual terms.
  • Monitor and report on project financial performance and forecasts.
  • Provide cost analysis and feedback to production teams to aid decision-making.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiencies.
  • Support the implementation of improved cost and time control processes.
  • Interpret and apply contract requirements effectively within project environments.
  • Assist in resolving commercial issues and discrepancies across project documentation.
  • Work closely with clients, engineers, and site teams to ensure commercial alignment.
