A leading publisher of children’s books in Greater London is looking for a Contracts Manager to draft and negotiate contracts. The ideal candidate should have 2+ years' experience in contracts within publishing, great communication skills, and a solid understanding of copyright law. We are excited to be working with a lovely award‑winning international publisher of children’s books, who are looking to recruit a switched‑on Contracts Manager to join their busy, friendly contracts team. This is a full‑time, permanent position and the role offers hybrid working, with three days in the London office.
The Contracts Manager will report to the Head of Contracts and will be responsible for drafting and negotiating author and illustrator contracts as well as other contractual paperwork as required. You will advise the UK editorial team on contractual matters, and advise their international office on contracts, subsidiary rights deals, and permissions. At busy times, the Contracts Manager will draft other types of contracts such as audio, rights contracts and permissions.
This is a fabulous opportunity for a Contracts professional with 2+ years’ experience, ideally with a children’s publisher, with an understanding of copyright law and an awareness of current issue such as AI.
The ideal candidate will have proven experience of drafting and negotiation skills, along with experience of working in a similar role within children’s publishing. Experience of working with American publishers and agents would be a bonus as would an interest in and understanding of licensed and spin‑off products. You will be a team player with great communication skills and possess a sound understanding of copyright and contract law, trademarks, etc. Experience of audio contracts and knowledge of Biblio are highly advantageous as is a strong eye for detail.
