About the Role

This role offers a unique opportunity to work across a broad range of safety-critical areas, from lift maintenance to asbestos compliance, ensuring contractors deliver safe, high-quality and cost-effective services to our residents.

What you will be doing

Reporting to the Lead Contracts Manager – General, you'll be responsible for:

  • Overseeing the delivery of outsourced compliance programmes (e.g. lifts, radon, asbestos, fall arrest systems, sewage treatment).
  • Managing contractor performance across all SNG localities, ensuring work is delivered safely, on time, and in line with legal and regulatory obligations.
  • Leading contractor meetings, managing improvement plans, and reviewing risk assessments and method statements.
  • Ensuring high standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance across all areas.
  • Budget management of circa £5 million per annum, ensuring value for money and accurate forecasting.
  • Supporting procurement and delivering robust reporting for compliance programmes.
  • Acting as a key contact between contractors, local teams, and customers to ensure everyone is informed and engaged.
What we're looking for

Essential:

  • Proven experience managing third-party suppliers or contractors.
  • Strong knowledge of legislation and compliance in building services (e.g. Lift Awareness, EOR202N, DFG Processes, Asbestos, LOLER, CDM regulations).
  • Excellent financial, organisational, and project management skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical documents (e.g. fire risk assessments, asbestos surveys).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant systems.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and challenge when needed.
  • Willingness to travel across SNG sites.
Desirable
  • NVQ Level 3 in Engineering or equivalent technical qualification.
  • IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH General Certificate.
  • Asbestos surveying qualification (e.g. P402).
  • Experience managing compliance within a large housing association.
  • PRINCE2 or equivalent project management certification.
  • Level 2 Safety Awareness in lifting equipment in Social Housing.
  • Level 2 Award in Asset and Building compliance.
