Job Title: Contracts Manager
Salary: £70,000 - £80,000 per annum (Permanent)
Location: Plymouth (Devonport Dockyard)

The Role

We're seeking an experienced Contracts Manager to take commercial and contractual responsibility for a portfolio of works within Devonport Dockyard, Plymouth. This is a permanent, senior appointment offering long‑term stability, with work secured through 2031 and beyond. You will oversee multiple live contracts, supporting delivery teams while maintaining control of cost, programme, risk and compliance within a secure, highly regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Overall responsibility for the management and performance of Dockyard contracts
  • Oversight of project delivery teams, ensuring works are delivered safely, on time and to budget
  • Commercial and contractual control, including change management, variations and risk mitigation
  • Management of client relationships and key Dockyard stakeholders
  • Ensuring compliance with contract terms, statutory regulations and defence standards
  • Supporting tendering, pricing and pre‑construction activities where required
  • Management of subcontractor performance, procurement and supply chain relationships
  • Accurate reporting on contract performance, forecasts and risks to senior management
Requirements
  • Proven experience operating as a Contracts Manager on complex construction, M&E or infrastructure projects
  • Strong understanding of contract management and commercial control
  • Experience working within defence, Dockyard, marine, nuclear or similarly regulated environments is highly desirable
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and teams concurrently
  • Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to work on‑site in Plymouth as required
  • Security clearance, or the ability to obtain it – Required
