Contracts Manager - Hertfordshire - Refurbishment Contractor

£45,000 - £50,000 + Car/Allowance

Office-based with site visits as required

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Contracts Manager to join an established refurbishment contractor in West Sussex. This growing business delivers a range of Commercial, Educational, Industrial, and Residential projects valued between £20K and £1.6M, and due to continued success, they are looking to strengthen their delivery team.

This role will suit someone who enjoys a hands-on approach, managing multiple projects, ensuring quality, safety, and client satisfaction throughout.

Responsibilities
  • Lead project delivery teams to ensure successful, safe, and efficient completion of works.
  • Act as the primary client contact, representing the company professionally at all stages.
  • Oversee project planning, programming, and sequencing of works.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and contractual documentation (JCT knowledge preferred).
  • Manage cost control, valuations, and commercial reporting.
  • Produce and review RAMS, Construction Phase Plans, and O&M documentation.
  • Support pre-contract and tender activities when required.
  • Motivate and support site teams, including directly employed operatives and trades.
  • Report regularly to Directors on key project and operational issues.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in contracts or project management within refurbishment or general construction.
  • Strong technical understanding of construction processes and documentation.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to build lasting client and supply chain relationships.
  • Confident with IT systems for planning, reporting, and valuation.
  • SMSTS and/or relevant construction management qualification preferred (not essential for the right candidate).
  • Highly motivated, organised, and committed to delivering high-quality results.
