Job summary

Macquarie Data Centre seeks an experienced Contracts Manager to lead commercial and contractual management for major infrastructure projects in Australia. You will coordinate across Procurement, Legal, Finance and Delivery teams to ensure robust, compliant contracts from procurement through handover.

The role requires 10+ years in contract administration, strong commercial acumen, and proven negotiation skills to drive outcomes on multi‑million‑dollar data centre programs.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years’ experience in contract administration or commercial management on major construction or infrastructure projects.
  • Experience administering Australian standard forms of contract including AS4000, AS4902 and bespoke Design & Construct agreements.
  • Strong understanding of supply agreements for long‑lead equipment and major construction contracts.
  • Proven experience managing contract variations, claims, extensions of time, payment applications and commercial correspondence.
  • Experience establishing and maintaining contract registers, governance processes and audit‑ready documentation.
  • Knowledge of Australian procurement practices, WHS requirements and relevant industry standards.

The Opportunity

We're building Australia's next generation of hyperscale and enterprise data centres, and we're looking for an experienced Contracts Manager to play a pivotal role in bringing these critical infrastructure projects to life.

Reporting to the Executive General Manager – Commercial, you'll be responsible for the commercial and contractual management of major project agreements from procurement through to execution and handover. You'll act as the central point of coordination across Procurement, Legal, Finance, Project Delivery, Engineering and our key vendors, ensuring contracts are commercially robust, compliant and executed seamlessly.

This is a highly visible role where you'll influence the successful delivery of multi‑million‑dollar infrastructure projects by managing long‑lead equipment contracts, supporting main contractor engagements, administering commercial events and driving strong contractual governance throughout the project lifecycle.

About You!

  • Extensive experience managing contracts on large‑scale construction or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to negotiate favourable contractual outcomes while managing risk.
  • Confident working across Legal, Procurement, Finance, Engineering and Delivery teams to achieve common objectives.
  • Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail and a passion for maintaining robust contract governance.
  • Comfortable managing competing priorities in fast‑paced project environments.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence senior leaders, contractors and suppliers.
  • A proactive communicator who identifies contractual risks early and drives practical commercial solutions.
  • Passionate about delivering projects safely, compliantly and on schedule.

Required Skills and Experience!

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Law, Commerce, Engineering, Property or Project Management.
  • 10+ years’ experience in contract administration or commercial management on major construction or infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex contracts across procurement, negotiation, execution and contract administration.
  • Experience administering Australian standard forms of contract including AS4000, AS4902 and bespoke Design & Construct agreements.
  • Strong understanding of supply agreements for long‑lead equipment and major construction contracts.
  • Proven experience managing contract variations, claims, extensions of time, payment applications and commercial correspondence.
  • Experience establishing and maintaining contract registers, governance processes and audit‑ready documentation.
  • Strong understanding of contractual risk management and commercial reporting.
  • Experience within data centre, mission‑critical, industrial or major infrastructure projects will be highly regarded.
  • Knowledge of Australian procurement practices, WHS requirements and relevant industry standards.
  • Professional procurement qualifications such as CIPS or MCIPS are advantageous.
