Job summary

North Yorkshire Council is seeking a Contract Supervisor within the Housing Standards team to support compliance, capital contracts, and delivery across their housing programme. You will work with contractors, tenants and internal stakeholders to ensure works are safe, compliant, on time and within budget.

The role involves travel to localities, site inspections, and drafting simple specifications for procurement, with a focus on energy retrofit and decarbonisation to improve housing standards.

Qualifications

• Experience in building maintenance and compliance works.
• Strong procurement and contract management knowledge.
• Proven ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
• Understanding of health and safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Take responsibility for own area of work, ensuring quality and safety standards.
• Liaise with tenants, providers, suppliers and contractors; resolve issues promptly.
• Ensure work is carried out safely and in compliance with standards and legislation.
• Carry out day-to-day contract management and document actions from meetings.
• Manage decent homes standard work and planned improvement delivery.
• Perform site inspections and verify workmanship and safety practices.
• Interpret technical recommendations and progress works for compliance continuity.
• Review risk assessments and method statements for site safety.
• Draft simple specifications; liaise with procurement on requirements.
• Stay up to date with compliance, health and safety guidance; contribute to service improvements.
