Job summary

Howells Solutions Limited is partnering with a leading passive fire protection contractor to recruit a Contract Manager for South East London projects with travel. You will manage P&L, drive project programmes, and oversee safety documentation, coordinating with clients, sub-contractors, and internal teams.

The role requires strong leadership in cost control, HS&C compliance, and stakeholder engagement across residential, healthcare, education, and commercial sectors.

Qualifications

• Must demonstrate P&L responsibility across projects.
• Ability to produce and manage project programmes and site documentation.
• Experience managing sub-contractor H&S documentation and client meetings.

Responsibilities

• Full P&L responsibility of projects from receipt of order to final account stage.
• Produce project site files with all relevant site documentation.
• Apply project programme timescales and build the works programme for production.
• Assess sub-contractor H&S documentation including client contractors.
• Prepare and collate Principal Contractor H&S documentation.
• Manage external stakeholders including client site progress meetings and other parties.
• Lead internal reviews and reporting for the board and weekly updates to clients.
• Collaborate with QS to monitor lifecycle costs and optimise materials/sub-contracts.
• Manage scope changes and obtain QS approval before on-site execution.

Job Title: Contract Manager (Passive Fire)
Location: South East London (Will involve travel)

We are pleased to be working with a leading specialist contractor in passive fire protection, delivering high-quality fire stopping, fire doors, and compartmentation works across a wide range of sectors including residential, healthcare, education, and commercial projects. Duties:

• Full P&L responsibility of projects from receipt of order to final account stage
• Producing project site files, incorporating all relevant site documentation
• Application of project programme timescales, building the programme of works for production
• Assessment of all sub-contractor H&S documentation, including client employed contractors
• Preparation and collation of Principal Contractor H&S documentation
• External Stakeholder Management - Client site progress meetings with property team and project Interested parties, safety consultants, designers, local authority, or property tenants
• Internal Stakeholder Management - Weekly labour and production review meetings reporting to the board and preparing senior management reports for weekly client SMT updates
• Cost Management, working alongside the assigned QS, monitoring the project lifecycle cost, engaging with the buyer to achieve cost effective materials and sub-contract teams
• Scope Change Management, ensuring any additional works requested are costed, submitted for approval by the QS before being undertaken onsite
