You will act as a reliable partner in the preparation of contracts and subcontracts, contract administration, and project execution. Your role ensures that contract and risk management activities are carried out accurately and on time, safeguarding Hitachi Energy’s interests throughout the project lifecycle.

Engagement with both internal and external stakeholders will be critical. The successful candidate will be professional, diligent, and a proactive communicator with the confidence to represent our business interests in all circumstances.

Do you enjoy working in teams and enhancing their performance through your expertise? Are you looking for a position where you can collaborate across various business and project disciplines as part of a contract management team? If so, we look forward to receiving your application.

Please note: We are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position.

Location: Home‑based, with Birmingham or Glasgow as a local base. The role requires travel to project sites and client offices across the UK, depending on specific project requirements.

How You’ll Make an Impact
  • Provide guidance and leadership on contract‑related matters to cross–functional project teams. Ensure team members understand their roles and responsibilities to foster a collaborative approach to contract management.

  • Develop contract strategies aligned with Hitachi Energy’s policies, customer requirements, and overall execution strategy, considering risk, pricing, scope, and schedule.

  • Identify the contract baseline (including terms and conditions, specifications, drawings, estimates, proposals, schedules, and other incorporated documents) and highlight areas of opportunity and potential risk.

  • Ensure timely and accurate execution of commercial aspects across a portfolio of contracts and subcontracts (e.g., payments, claims, variation orders, warranties, provisions, guarantees).

  • Verify that all parties have fulfilled their contractual obligations and that no responsibilities remain outstanding.

  • Collaborate with Hitachi Energy’s Legal team to develop negotiation strategies and support negotiations.

  • Assist the Legal team in managing formal dispute resolution, litigation, and arbitration proceedings.

  • Align with Legal to draft, negotiate, and finalize agreements during the sales and project execution phases.

Background
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Business Administration, Economics, or Law.

  • Proven experience in EPC projects within power generation, substations, converter stations, grid integration, transmission, or similar industrial plants, with strong knowledge of contract management processes and administration of various contractual agreements.

  • Extensive experience in administering standard form contracts, with a demonstrated ability to draft contracts and support supply chain teams in compiling and flowing down terms for subcontract formation. NEC3/4 knowledge is advantageous.

  • Background in change management, claim management, and contract‑related legal issues, including their impact during proposal, execution, and close‑out stages.

  • Working knowledge and hands‑on experience with contracts executed under common law jurisdictions.

  • Ability to interface confidently with customers and subcontractors on all contract and project‑related matters, including review and processing of changes.
