Overview

Contract Manager – City of London

Salary: £75,000 + Travel + Benefits

An exceptional opportunity to join a leading name in the building services maintenance sector. This role involves taking ownership of a high-profile portfolio in central London, with a strong pipeline of contract wins and a reputation for excellence.

You will oversee 4-5 commercial sites within the City, manage a contract value of approximately £1 million, and report to the Area General Manager. You will lead a team of engineers and supervisors to deliver planned and reactive maintenance to high standards in a client-facing role that requires commercial acumen, technical expertise, and leadership.

Responsibilities
  • Full operational and financial responsibility for the contract portfolio (P&L management).
  • Ensure delivery of all PPM and reactive maintenance in line with SLAs and KPIs.
  • Lead, motivate, and develop a team of engineers and supervisors.
  • Manage recruitment, onboarding, training, and development of site staff.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and appraisals.
  • Oversee quoting, estimating, and delivery of small works and projects.
  • Ensure compliance with H&S regulations, company policies, and statutory requirements.
  • Maintain and improve client relationships through regular meetings and proactive communication.
  • Attend monthly contract reviews and client meetings, providing detailed reports and updates.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across service delivery and operational processes.
  • Manage permit-to-work systems, risk assessments, and method statements.
  • Monitor and report on energy usage, sustainability initiatives, and environmental performance.
  • Support mobilisation of new contracts and demobilisation of expiring ones.
  • Identify and pursue additional business opportunities within the existing client base.
  • Ensure robust asset management, lifecycle planning, and compliance documentation.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for technical escalations and troubleshooting.
Requirements
  • Recognised technical qualification (e.g. City & Guilds, NVQ, HNC/HND) in Electrical, Mechanical, HVAC or Building Services.
  • Proven experience managing engineering contracts within commercial buildings.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Excellent client-facing and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Commercially astute with experience managing budgets and financial reporting.
  • Proficient in CAFM systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Thorough understanding of compliance, H&S, and statutory maintenance requirements.
