A large, forward-thinking public sector body in the West Midlands is looking for an experienced Contract Manager to establish and lead a new function within its Procurement team.

This is a newly created position with real scope to shape how contract management operates across the organisation. You’ll be setting up systems and processes from the ground up, leading a team of three Officers and an Administrator, and ensuring value for money across a £1.9 billion contracts portfolio.

What you’ll be doing
  • Build and embed new systems, processes, and procedures to ensure robust contract compliance across all service areas
  • Oversee post-award contract management, making sure suppliers deliver value for money and meet performance standards
  • Lead, coach, and develop a growing team of Contract and Compliance Officers and an Administrator
  • Work closely with colleagues in procurement, finance, legal, and operational delivery to drive continuous improvement
  • Provide expert guidance on contract compliance and the implications of the Procurement Act 2023
About you
  • Proven experience in procurement, contract management, or compliance within a large or complex organisation
  • Confident leader who enjoys developing teams and embedding new ways of working
  • Strong understanding of supplier performance management and value-for-money principles
  • Knowledge of public procurement regulations (PCR 2015 and Procurement Act 2023)
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels
