Contract Health & Safety Advisor

Location: Newcastle upon Tyne
Project: Civil Engineering Project
Contract Type: Freelance / Contract

Boyd Recruitment are currently working on behalf of a leading Civil Engineering contractor who are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to support a civil engineering project in Newcastle on a contract basis.

This is a site-based role, ideal for a proactive H&S professional with strong civil engineering experience who can drive safe working practices, support site teams, and ensure full compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide day-to-day Health & Safety support across site operations
  • Ensure compliance with HSE legislation, company procedures, and project requirements
  • Conduct site inspections, audits, and safety tours
  • Support the production, review, and implementation of RAMS
  • Deliver toolbox talks, inductions, and safety briefings
  • Investigate incidents and near misses, producing reports and corrective actions
  • Work closely with site management to promote a positive safety culture
Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Health & Safety Advisor within civil engineering or infrastructure
  • Strong knowledge of UK H&S legislation and CDM Regulations
  • NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate (minimum)
  • CSCS card (essential)
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to work independently and influence site teams
Desirable
  • Experience on highways, utilities, structures, or heavy civils projects
