Job summary

The Health and Safety Partnership Limited in Central London is seeking a Contract Fire Safety Consultant to join a leading consultancy specialising in fire safety engineering across the built environment.

You will conduct intrusive surveys, perform fire risk assessments, inspections and reports across residential, commercial, heritage, healthcare and high-rise developments, liaising with clients and stakeholders to deliver compliant solutions.

Qualifications

• Mandatory Level 4 qualification in Fire Risk or Fire Engineering.
• NFRAR Level 2 registration.
• IFE and/or IFSM membership.

Responsibilities

• Conduct intrusive compartmentation surveys (Type 2/4) in residential buildings.
• Carry out Fire Risk Assessments, Fire Safety Audits, door inspections and related inspections.
• Identify hazards, assess risks, and review fire safety provisions and management procedures.
• Perform site inspections, gather evidence, and produce technical reports and action plans.
• Manage project deliverables to meet timescales and client expectations.
• Highlight complex issues and collaborate with senior consultants on delivery.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, building managers and stakeholders to communicate findings.

Job description

Contract Fire Safety Consultant, is required to join a leading consultancy based in Central London, specialising in fire safety engineering across the built environment. The position offers the opportunity to work in a variety of sectors including residential, commercial, heritage, healthcare and high-rise developments.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct intrusive compartmentation surveys, including Type 2 and Type 4 surveys within residential buildings.
• Complete Fire Risk Assessments, Fire Safety Audits, fire door inspections and wider fire safety inspections.
• Identify fire hazards, assess risks and review existing fire safety provisions and management procedures.
• Undertake site inspections, gather evidence and produce accurate technical reports, findings and action plans.
• Manage project deliverables in line with agreed timescales, quality standards and client expectations.
• Highlight complex or high-risk issues and work closely with senior consultants on project delivery.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, building managers and other stakeholders, communicating findings effectively.

Qualifications

• Minimum Level 4 qualification in Fire Risk or Fire Engineering.
• Minimum NFRAR Level 2 registration.
• Membership of the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) and/or Institute of Fire Safety Managers (IFSM).

Experience

• Demonstrable experience conducting destructive Type 2 and Type 4 compartmentation surveys in residential buildings, including mid-rise and high-rise residential buildings (HRBs).
• Previous consultancy experience, with a strong understanding of UK fire safety legislation, British Standards, fire stopping and compartmentation.
• An ASFP Level 3 qualification in Compartmentation / Fire Stopping would be advantageous but is not essential.

Day Rate: £400-£500 per day, depending on experience and competency. Outside IR35
