Job summary

X4 Technology is partnering with a global energy organisation to deliver a multi-year AI and data transformation across its Trading business. We seek a Principal AI Data Engineer to design, build and deploy GenAI solutions, taking products from prototype to production while shaping the AI roadmap in a collaborative engineering environment.

Responsibilities cover deploying GenAI, RAG and Agentic AI solutions, building AI applications, and engineering scalable data solutions.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering AI, Data Science or Data Engineering.
• Strong commercial experience building GenAI, RAG and Agentic AI applications.
• Strong understanding of modern LLMs.
• Experience with LangChain, LangGraph, AutoGen or similar AI agent frameworks.
• Strong Python, SQL and data engineering skills with Azure cloud.

Responsibilities

• Build and deploy GenAI, RAG and Agentic AI solutions from prototype to production.
• Develop AI applications (Azure OpenAI, AI Foundry, Databricks Mosaic AI, MLflow, Genie, AgentBricks).
• Design, evaluate and optimise RAG pipelines (prompt engineering, embeddings, LLM evaluation).
• Build AI agents (LangChain, LangGraph, AutoGen and related frameworks).
• Engineer scalable AI and data solutions (Databricks Delta Lake, DLT and Unity Catalog).
• Collaborate with commercial, product and engineering teams.

Contract: 6-month initial contract (multi-year programme)

X4 Technology are partnered with a global energy organisation undergoing a major AI and data transformation across its Trading business.

As part of a large-scale programme, they're investing heavily in Generative AI, Agentic AI and modern data engineering capabilities to deliver intelligent solutions that enhance commercial decision-making, automate complex workflows and unlock value across trading operations.

They are looking for an experienced Principal AI Data Engineer to design, build and deploy enterprise-scale GenAI solutions, taking products from rapid prototyping through to production while helping shape the future AI roadmap within a highly collaborative engineering environment.

Responsibilities for the Contract AI Data Engineer (Trading)

• Build and deploy GenAI, RAG and Agentic AI solutions from prototype to production
• Develop AI applications (Azure OpenAI, AI Foundry, Databricks Mosaic AI, MLflow, Genie, AgentBricks)
• Design, evaluate and optimise RAG pipelines (prompt engineering, embeddings, LLM evaluation)
• Build AI agents (LangChain, LangGraph, AutoGen and related frameworks)

Requirements for the Contract AI Data Engineer (Trading)

• Deep experience delivering AI, Data Science or Data Engineering
• Strong commercial experience building GenAI, RAG and Agentic AI applications
• Strong understanding of modern LLMs
• Experience with LangChain, LangGraph, AutoGen or similar AI agent frameworks
• Strong Python, SQL and data engineering skills with Azure cloud experience.
• Experience within Energy Trading, Commodities or Financial Services is highly advantageous.
